Food Post- Souffle Pancakes & Aori Ramen

Konnichiwa!

I can't believe I am back to blogging after neglecting it for such long time. Working life is indeed super busy. And since I work in an office facing two huge monitors for more than 8 hours (yes, I use two monitors at work), when I am back to my room I would not even bother to turn on my laptop for blogging (had enough blue light hurting my eyes).

Nevertheless, I still decided to restart my blogging habit as I just love to share pictures and kinda like writing a diary online. I tried to start book diary but realized it is very hard for me just to write down my thoughts without sharing the pictures that I took.

As the title says, this post is dedicated to all the food I have eaten XD. I have lots and lots of food to share as it has been such a long time since my previous food post.

Souffle Pancake:

Souffle Pancake is basically a trend nowadays as people are getting bored of the common thin flat slice of breakfast banana pancake (probably) and wanted something more light and fluffy (Japanese called the texture FuwaFuwa ふわふわ)
I got to know this type of pancake from youtube which features a souffle pancake specialty shop in Japan (Google: Shiawase no Pankeki 幸せのパンケーキ- literal meaning: A Happy Pancake). And I was dyinggggg to try it. Lucky for me that I have foodie friend who told me that I can actually taste it in Malaysia!

There are few spots that I know (and tried) souffle pancakes before.

1. Neighbour's Coffee Bar @ Happy Garden KL

This cafe serves not only souffle pancake, but also soft serve, pasta and sandwiches etc. But of course, I visited for the pancake.

I ordered the souffle pancake with charcoal soft serve. Their pancakes are slightly pale white in color, which I think they use less butter/egg maybe? But the texture was what I expected- light, airy and fluffy. Souffle pancake does look bigger than the usual banana pancakes but it definitely will not make you feel stuffy after eating it- because it is so airy that once you put it into your mouth it will be like "poof" gone~

I'm not saying that it does not taste good. It does. It tastes very good, better than the usual pancake.
Do try out their soft serve too, it is a bomb!

2. Souffle スフレ @ Puchong

This is the souffle pancake specialty shop in Puchong. The shop name already tells you what is their signature- Souffle. I still remember I actually found this shop accidentally. I was heading to another cafe for a drink for supper, but noticed this shop which was opposite of the cafe that I initially wanted to go. Then I made a quick decision to ditch the initial cafe and head to this souffle pancake shop. FYI Souffle is located at second floor.

I ordered the souffle pancake with chocolate soft serve (again the soft serve is a bomb!). Noticed the color of pancake is slightly darker in yellow. And you can taste the reason why. This souffle pancakes have a more eggy taste, which I quite like. Texture wise I feel both Neighbour's and Souffle's are on par with each other. Would recommend you to try both and see which you prefer!

 3. Hoshino Coffee Malaysia 星乃珈琲

Hoshino Coffee is a Japanese chain cafe which landed in The Gardens Shopping Mall in KL. They have various entree dishes as well as desserts.

Ordered their souffle pancake which turned out to be more to like a Chinese egg cake (鸡蛋糕). As you can see from the picture the texture is more firm and not the light airy kind.

Taste wise, it is passable as a cake. But not as a souffle pancake (sorry Hoshino).

Aori Ramen アオリの神隠し:

Aori Ramen is a Japanese ramen shop opened by the famous member of Korea boys group- BigBang- Seungri, due to his passion and love for Japanese ramen. The shop is located at level 6 of Pavilion Mall KL.

I was seated at the individual booth during my visit where you can focus on eating your ramen and no need for you to socialize with other people. Your ramen will be served from behind the curtain of the booth. The seating are similar to Ichiran Ramen which they facilitate people who come to enjoy ramen alone. They do have tables for larger group.

Their menu is pretty limited. You only get to choose from two types: Aori Ramen Lite (2 toppings-RM31) or Aori Ramen (5 toppings-RM35). Of course you can always go for Lite version and choose to add toppings yourself. To order, simply fill in the form that you are given (garlic or no, spiciness level, toppings, side dish etc)

Basically if you order Lite, you only get a basic ramen with the char siew (barbeque marinated pork slices) and chopped onions. Whereas Aori Ramen with 5 toppings, you get the char siew, onions, soft boiled egg, dried seaweed and menma (marinated bamboo shoot メンマ in Japanese)

They have side menu of TKG (Tamago-kake Gohan) which means raw egg on rice, additional noodle (Japanese called it "kaetama" 替玉) and additonal bowl of rice (for you to eat with the soup after your finished the noodle).

As for me, I will go for the All-in option whenever I try a ramen. I just can't stand the idea of not having egg, seaweed, char siew and menma in my ramen. They SHOULD be there!!

Review: To be honest I wasn't expecting much but the ramen was pretty good! I ordered the TKG as well (forgot to take pic) and it tastes quite nice. No doubt it tastes good in general, but I still feel it is quite pricey to have a ramen at RM35 in Malaysia.
Side note: My friends went to try after my visit but they did not like it. Consistency issue?

If you ask me if I would return, probably not so frequent due to the price. And frankly speaking I prefer Ippudo over it (sorry Aori, sorry Seungri).

Till next post! (*^-^*)ノ~~マタネー
