The Late Tanjoubi Post- THIRTY8 @ Grand Hyatt Hotel KL

Konnichiwa!

Hereby sharing my birthday meal which was in June 2018 (serious procrastination). This is a late birthday post, as the title says (遅刻の誕生日投稿).

Had my birthday meal in THIRTY8 Restaurant in Grand Hyatt Hotel. I am not 38 yet, but am thinking maybe I should head over there for my 38th birthday meal. Big thanks to my kareshi for this birthday treat.

The restaurant is located at the 38th floor of the hotel (hence the name), and it offers 360 degree city view of the busy city of Kuala Lumpur. I chose to sit by the window. Word of advise: never sit near the window when it is noon time, it may not be too sunny at the time you made your choice, but you will regret afterwards. Luckily the air-conditioning was enough to keep me cool.

The restaurant offers wide variety of cuisine, including Japanese, Western and Asian. They have fusion of cuisines as well. They also have seasonal menu which you get to try within the stated period.

Ordered this amazing Sustainable seafood broth (with saffron, brocoli, tomato, basil and garlic bread). The soup has that very fresh and salty sweet taste from boiling the prawns. The seafood are very fresh too! (kareshi mentioned that prawns were very fresh). However, I prefer the broth to be slightly thicker in consistency as this is a little too watery, not sure if it was meant to be like this. But the taste is on point.

I had actually forgot what kind of fish I ordered. Even after googling it I'm still not too sure. I think it should be the Pan fried sustainable Alaskan black cod with potatoes, vegetables & lemon butter sauce. I like the fish, just wish it was a bigger piece hahaha~

3rd dish was the Grilled Angus beef Sirloin steak (medium) with Chimichurri sauce. Slightly taken back by how oily the Chimichurri was, unlike the sauce for the fish which was so fresh and flavorful. Here comes the main point: THE ROASTED POTATO IS DYNAMITE! I can't believe I am saying this but the star of the whole meal would be the roasted potato! It was full of fragrance of the herb and I just can't stop eating it. I think I would order another plate of potato if not for the price.... The steak was nice too but if only it had a better sauce.

Last but not least, dessert! Creme Brulee with fresh berries and vanilla ice cream! Classic match of sweet creme brulee with the tartness of the fresh berries. Wonderful end to the birthday meal.

Overall, I enjoyed the food and the ambiance very much, aside from how shocking the final bill was for me (lol). This would be a short blog of my birthday meal. Will blog again soon, I hope.
Oh, and welcome December 2018! Praying that I can do my best and enjoy the last month of 2018.

 Till next post. (*^-^*)ノ~~マタネー xoxo
